Hoopeston Mayor’s Youth Council

The Hoopeston Mayor’s Youth Council is a model for getting youth involved and connected to their community. Set up similar to a city council the Youth Council has several different committees including; youth center, events, service and skate park committees. The Youth Council has also been an active part of Hoopeston’s MAPPING

Jean Minick

Jean, a passionate supporter of the community of Hoopeston, was integral in the MAPPING program in Hoopeston and in all 4 action teams that resulted from it. She worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in the economic development office on housing assesments and a housing profile as part of her work on MAPPING and VISTA goals.

Sara Monroe, Program Manager, IL program office for the Corporation for National and Community Service

Sara Monroe, program manager for the cooperation for national and community service provides assistance to communities in both rural and urban settings throughout IL. She works closely with the MAPPING program to place AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers in rural communities to work on poverty alleviation.

321 Art Gallery – The Artists’ Cooperative of Savanna

The Artists’ Cooperative (http://www.321artgallery.com/membersofacs.htm) brought together a diverse group of regional artists interested in showcasing regional art as well as offering opportunities to learn and share the arts with children and adults.
